The American College of Veterinary Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ACVHPM) is a proposed Recognized Veterinary Specialty Organization dedicated to advancing the care of animals experiencing chronic, progressive, and quality of life-limiting conditions. This specialty focuses on optimizing quality of life through expert pain and symptom management, comprehensive palliative interventions, and compassionate end-of-life care, while also supporting the emotional and psychosocial needs of caregivers.

Comment Period Now Open

Public comment period is now open. The AVMA American Board of Veterinary Specialties is seeking input on recognizing ACVHPM as a veterinary specialty organization — comments must be submitted by August 13, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. via the AVMA's online form.
